Outlining the significant role of education in driving societal change, particularly in India. The strides made by the Indian Government in education over the last decade, from the implementation of the Right to Education Act (RTE Act) to the National Education Policy 2020. Where the five pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability are emphasized as fundamental objectives. Legal Aid and Awareness Committee has made efforts to assess the implementation of the RTE Act, starting with a survey of government schools in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in 2016. Outling three major projects undertaken by the Committee under its RTE initiatives, including paper presentations, a public interest litigation filed in the High Court of Rajasthan, and a competition called “Milkar Karein RTE Ko Sarthak.” Additionally, a report titled “Breaking Barriers to Education” has been published, aiming to analyze the implementation of the RTE Act across Indian states, identifying challenges, and providing recommendations. Where the report also highlights variations in state mechanisms and approaches by civil society organisations in addressing implementation issues.
