Conducted on 5 October 2024, the inaugural Stakeholder Summit examined transgender rights in the context of a decade since the landmark judgment in National Legal Services Authority v. Union of India. The Summit featured a workshop engaging paralegal volunteers, police personnel, and stakeholders, followed by a panel discussion with leading experts, activists, and academicians. Discussions highlighted the gap between legal recognition and lived realities, particularly barriers in accessing education, employment, and healthcare. Key insights emphasised the importance of self-determination, intersectional policymaking, and community-led solutions, while also critically examining implementation challenges under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. The Summit reinforced that legal reform must be complemented by societal and institutional change to ensure meaningful inclusion and equality.
Held on 2 November 2025 at National Law University, Jodhpur, the second Stakeholder Summit marked ten years of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The Summit focused on strengthening rehabilitation and reintegration mechanisms for juveniles in conflict with the law. The event brought together legal experts, academicians, and child rights practitioners to advocate a shift from punitive approaches to a rehabilitative and rights-based framework. A key highlight was the policy discussion on a Draft Policy Brief, where speakers addressed socio-legal challenges, reintegration gaps, and the need for evidence-based reforms. The Summit also featured a capacity-building workshop with experts associated with UNICEF India, focusing on probation systems, aftercare services, victim support, and media narratives surrounding juvenile justice. The release of the Draft Policy Proposal marked a significant step toward strengthening child protection frameworks and advancing restorative justice.
